Question by that 1 chick: What happens at a drug abuse (rehab) class?
Had a random drug test at work today. I may or may not pass. I’ve been there over a year and I know the bosses like me too much to fire me. I talked to a friend that works there and she said its happened before. They didn’t get fired but they made this person do “rehab” (aka drug abuse class)
I was wondering, what the heck do you do in there? Is it like school? How long will it last? How often am I gonna get drug tested?
If you’ve ever experienced that, let me know what goes down. Greatly appreciated.

“The program” varies far too much to for us to give you too much insight. You can expect random drug tests for 1 to 10 years however; again depending upon how serious your company is, their insurance companies are, your state’s injury compensation program is, what you tested positive for and how much, how your company’s customers react to positive tests, and how/which/what contracts your company is carrying for their product.

The function of a re-hab program is not to send you to time out or punish you for having used drugs/alcohol. Rather, it is to encourage you to stop using the substance of choice, encourage you to not take up a different substance, and to be able to provide some sort of success statistics. It may or may not include random or routine drug testing for the duration of the program. It may or may not include classroom time, group or individual therapy sessions, or the requirement to attend additional sessions like NA or AA. It may or may not include personal introspection exercises, tools and exercises for future abstinence purposes, and more. Again, the goal is for graduates to no longer use for the rest of their lives after graduation.

It is good that your company does value its employees to give them a chance. Do realize that this is often done on a case by case basis and that the attitudes of the company, an individual boss, or the top tier can change on a whim. Also, that the company probably has a lot of external pressures including considering the cost of rehab for an employee versus the cost of obtaining and training a new hire. Good luck.

This is cruel and unusual treatment for the courts to expect for your addiction to just disappear knowing the dangers and suffering involved in withdrawal. While you are thinking in a reasonable fashion enroll into a detox treatment designed for your type of addiction. Quite naturally I don’t have any confidence or respect for a PO that would require you to test clean, just because you got out of jail. When you are clean, you are passed the physical and psychological affects of the drug. The drug can no longer be regarded as a part of your life. It can’t be regarded ever as an option. Until you get to this point, you are not clean. It is still causing destruction in your system. Sobriety is a gift from God. It is a new life. Once you can plan your new life, this stuff will seem so stupid, you won’t even think about it.

Just tell the PO that you need a program, if one is available, or can he offer a referral. This is a source that explains what is available. There are several programs online just surf “Opiate detox Program”. We need to get out of here!

Question by Kate: Can I be drug tested in court before I even meet my PO?
Got arrested for a DUI, went through like three months figuring out what plea I was going to get (Florida court systems are SLOW AS ALL HECK). My defender said that I will fill out paper work after my plea with probation and then set up a time to see my PO.

I didn’t want to ask her this lol. But just from your guys experience, can they drug test me right there before I even see my PO? Obviously this is my first time ever doing anything like this. I may test positive for THC. I smoked on and off (with like days even between) and then I stopped entirely two weeks ago. But I entered a “drug/alcohol treatment” center this week just to look good for court (my conviction court date is in three days). Do you think that will help out if I fail my first probation drug test?
It was a misdemeanor DUI with leaving the scene. I have never heard of them drug testing you BEFORE they agree on probation. At least not for my sort of case my defender never mentioned that at all and she was pretty certain on what I was going to get with my plea.
