Get a resume together with references, and then go by the treatment facility you want to work at and ask to speak to their volunteer coordinator (if they have one). If they don’t, just ask to speak to the person in charge of the facility. Tell them what your interests are, what kind of needs you think you could help with at their facility, and what kind of time you would be willing to spend. It is REALLY important that you make out a schedule and you STICK TO THE SCHEDULE you make. You don’t have to do any particular amount of hours, but you do need to do what you say you’ll do. One of the biggest gripes I’ve heard from volunteer coordinators is that they can’t depend on their volunteers. volunteers think “well, it’s free, so it doesn’t matter when i come in” but remember, they are fitting you into their schedule, and sometimes these schedules are what provide stability to the patients, and is part of the treatment itself. If you say you’re going to be there for some activity, and you’re not, it can mess up everything else.

that being said, remember to treat your volunteer opportunity as IF IT WERE YOUR JOB. remember, you will be asking this person for a reference later, and any future jobs or school programs you want will be calling them to see what kind of person you are. it’s an invaluable opportunity, and i hope you get the best from it..

Question by Galatians; 5-1: Why Would a Religious Organization, Professing Having the “Truth” also have, a “Drug Rehabilitation Center”?
This group has denied they have a “drug problem” within their “Organization” How did this happen with all the promises of happiness, and real LOVE?

They are not being persecuted for righteousness sake, so why are so many members seeking rehab for major drug abuse?
God said He would not allow His people to be tested “beyond what they could endure”…so why the heavy drug use?

Why did they hide this here when asked if their was a drug problem? They said we were lying about this…
They are addicted, yes many are, that is why this company is offering them assistance.

They will also need money to pay for this rehab…see;

No Hannah…I exposed it, why don;t you explain it?
This rehabilitation center is not legally able to use the name “Jehovah’s Witnesses” unless they have a legal license to do so. The WTBTS would have to give their permission, based on rehab instructions that are tailored to the Church of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I hope you are not uncomfortable if you ever have to go there.

Christians are human, as are all faiths, and we live in the world, and drug abuse may not be common in mature Christians, but it does and will happen, and many are defensive about it.

Question by Jasmine: What Exactly Happens In Drug Rehab?
I’m writing a short story for a school assignment and it’s about a teen going to rehab for heroin addiction. Obviously in order to write this I need a little insight on what it would actually be like to be in rehab. Like what do they make you do right when you check yourself in, and what activities or therapies would you partake in, daily? Also what rules and such do patients need to follow. If anyone could give me any insight or share your rehab stories I would really appreciate it.

Rehabs can vary from something spa like to something resembling a psych ward. Either way, they train your focus away from outside matters onto almost strictly you and your inner issues and addictions. I should be able to offer in-depth details for you, but it’s kind of depressing for me at this point in life. The success rate is actually pretty low for these treatments, though they are helpful in getting connected to what one will need to know in order to recover.
