Question by brandoncathey2004: What percentage of American patients seek treatment for untreatable illnesses?
Out of the universe of all patients seeking treatment, there is certainly some percentage that medical science simply has no treatment options for, regardless of how much money is spent. I’m trying to get a rough idea of how large that group is. I know the answer depends on how we define “treatment” or “illness” and that many patients report multiple problems, some of which are treatable and some of which are not. But, any kind of statistical set that attempts to isolate a group of people that medicine cannot help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no percentage as there is no “illness” that some MD is unwilling to treat or diagnose.
All MD’s will attempt or refer someone for care.
There is no giving up in medicine.
Even in palliative/end of life care there are options.
GOOD LUCK.
