“In Treatment”?

Question by Saint Monica: “In Treatment”?
Would anyone care to offer their opinion on the new HBO series, “In Treatment”?–I absolutely love it; and Gabriel Byrne is amazing.

Best show since “Sopranos”, imo.
Thanks for the responses; I appreciate it.

Agreed, it’s a bit early to offer our own professional opinions :), but I too, think it has potential-

It’s a little early to give an opinion. I think it’s innovative that they organize the program by who’s in the therapy session. That way if you don’t like certain characters, you don’t have to watch them.

I wonder if they’re going to offer different settings in future episodes. It’s kinda nice that it’s more vocal and less visual. I have no trouble following what’s going on when I’m not watching my TV screen. (With other shows I’ll turn away and end up rewinding my Tivo because I quit paying attention.) On the other hand, it sort of lacks any eye candy whatsoever to keep my eyes on the screen. Actually, HBO’s holding back visually. Maybe they’ll satisfy us in later episodes. Self-mutilation? Scars from self-mutilation? Various disfigurements?

I watched the Paul and Gina Week 1 episode today and I found it amusing that Paul had the same sort of conflicts with Gina as his patients had with him.

The characters are kinda blah so far. Yeah two of them have a death wish. I know they’ll get more interesting as they’re developed more but why no one with interesting problems? Delusions? Hallucinations? Major phobias? etc.

I think the portrayal of a therapist is too “pop culture” and not clinical enough.

There’s one thing I didn’t like but I don’t wanna say it here because I’m afraid of being reported.
